Our Why…it’s urgent!
Our planet is on a trajectory to global warming well in excess of 2C which will cause significant economic and humanitarian hardship for communities around the world.
There is an urgent need for the world to reach “Drawdown”— the point in the future when levels of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere stop climbing and start to steadily decline, thereby stopping catastrophic climate change — as quickly, safely, and equitably as possible.
While government, financial markets, businesses all play significant roles in tackling the Climate Crisis, so too can community and individual actions.
With Rotary’s extensive global network and trusted brand we are uniquely placed to create significant impact throughout communities around the world to implement solutions to help ‘flatten the curve’ of rising greenhouse gases.
Our How…we form teams
The ESRAG Drawdown Climate Solutions Taskforce works to inspire, support and empower the Rotary Family to form teams that implement climate solutions locally, regionally and globally.
We do this by developing systems and tools to support Climate Solutions Education , implementation of projects and activities and the formation of Collaborative Relationships
In particular we facilitate the formation of Solutions Task Forces that bring together enthusiastic experts and volunteers to work on solutions such as:
- Renewable Energy
- Reducing Food Waste
- Plant Rich Diets
- Cleaner Cookstoves
we work to leverage the Rotary Brand and Network to create a movement of ‘changemakers’.
In time as we grow we plan to establish more localised teams that work through the ESRAG Regional Chapters to help support local clubs and districts with implementing impactful projects using best practices insights and tools. We are building teams with experts who can help make your Clkub and District projects more successful.
Our Proposed Network of Teams
This is how we plan to build teams that use Education, Solutions and Collaborative Relationships to collectively help solve the Climate Crisis…and at the same time create other humanitarian and societal benefits.
Our Draft Strategic Plan
We still need to update this inline with ESRAG’s recently published strategic plan.
